The Power of Posture: Unlocking Strength and Ease in Your Upper Back, Neck and Shoulders with Jessica Gonsiorowski

Join Jessica Gonsiorowski for a transformative three- part class series designed to help you explore the relationship between your posture, movement patterns, and the health of your upper back, neck and shoulders. Through posture exploration, yoga poses, basic anatomy, and mindful awareness, you will gain insight into how stiffness, weakness, or even pain in this area might be influenced by the way you carry yourself.

 

Although yoga is a great support in keeping your body healthy, it is not uncommon to take pre-existing imbalances into your yoga practice and therefore perpetuate some of these imbalances

 

The thoracic and cervical spine (upper Back) are a challenging area for most modern bodies. Long hours in front of computers and a head forward position (tech neck) can strain the back line of the body. Combine that with emotional stress, and you might experience tightness of the chest muscles, all of which contribute to much of the pain and lack of mobility in these areas. Mobility in the upper spine plays a major role in healthy shoulder mobility and vice versa and is therefore important to be explored together.

 

Throughout these three 2 hour classes you will learn:

• Basic anatomy of the thoracic and cervical spine • Basic anatomy of the shoulders

• Posture exploration

• Stretching and strengthening key muscles for better support and mobility

• Breath practices

• Stress reduction practices

• Utilizing props to adapt the practice in a personalized way

 

Expand your yoga practice or come and start your yoga journey in these intelligently developed and empowering classes and move towards more functional alignment and movement in your daily life on and off the mat.
